The community of Glooscap held their Winter Feast on Saturday, February 24th. They had exhibitors showing beading, basket making, waltes, traditional dancing, drumming and a representative from Pemsik along with an amazing feast for everyone to share. Community members and friends attended the feast and there was a Lusknikn contest with prizes for the top three finishers.
Jasmine Collins, our Sport for Social Development Coordinator attended the feast to speak on the connection between physical activity and who we are as Mi’kmaq people. She did a wonderful job of creating a connection between traditional activities such as powwow dancing, harvesting medicines, hunting, fishing, harvesting wood for baskets etc and physical activity.
