On our last day of "Spirit Week" our students created and decorated our tree in the foyer. Thank you to everyone who supported the students with their creations and thanks to Elle and Tammi Micheal for providing our beautiful tree.
Our students in grades four, five and six were in court to learn first hand the process and procedures of the law. They were able to experience what it is like to be a judge, prosecutor, defense lawyer, witness, victims and to sit on the jury.
The grade three class of LSK invited the grade three students of Shubenacadie District School to participate in a medicine pouch workshop. Kits were proved by the Sipekne'katik Education Department. Principal Jen Clarke was very excited to bring her students to our school to take part in the teachings of the medicine pouch. Our in-house elder, Leanna McLeod, led the students in this traditional teachings. The traditional medicine that were placed within the pouches were: traditional tobacco, sage, sweet grass, and cedar.
Before the Nova Scotia Christmas Tree can be delivered to Boston for Christmas, it has be be chosen, cut and packed for traveling. This year, our students were asked if they would like to witness this event. Needless to say, our LSK students were very excited.
