Kyla Bernard was recently hired as our Elementary Numeracy Consultant/Coach. Kyla has been working withMK on secondment for 5 years, but has recently been hired as one of our full time staff members!

Kyla has her Bachelor of Education and also her Masters in Leadership in Indigenous Education (FocusResearch – How do students engage in cultural approaches to mathematics.) She has worked in Education since 2008, first as an elementary school teacher. She has also taught a math cohort called CulturallyResponsive Mathematics to a group of educators through STFX university. Kyla has presented at provincial conferences, and multiple workshops. She has published math resources that are used across Canada, as well as developed her own to share over the years. She is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and elementary math expertise with all of our elementary teachers across the province, either virtually or in person.
