Jeff is the Network Administrator for Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey. As a part of the Atlantic First Nations Tech Services team, his responsibilities include site visits, security, installations, network maintenance, and various other back-end jobs that ensure the network is running smoothly for all managed sites.

Jeff is part of the Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey App development team and has been involved with them since completing a work term through NSCC in 2018.

Jeff is a trained Audio Engineer and Audio Visual Technician (Trebas Institute, 2012) and holds an honours diploma in Information Technology - Systems Management and Network (NSCC, 2018), as well as several IT certifications. He has always had a knack for problem solving and creative thinking.

Although Jeff is not of Indigenous descent, he has been humbled and honoured to have been able to learn from his partner's family over the last decade. He has had the privilege of attending ceremonies and learning from Indigenous knowledge keepers across Turtle Island while spending time with his Mi'kmaw family. Though they are not his own personal spiritual practices to carry, he has a deep respect and appreciation for all that he has learned and continues to learn from working with and spending time with his Mi’kmaw friends and family.

Jeff was born and raised in Kjipuktuk (Halifax, NS) and currently resides in this territory with his partner, Paulina (of Membertou First Nation), and their two very fluffy dogs. Jeff is an avid film and music fan and in his spare time, he enjoys sailing in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
