Brenda Mac Isaac was hired in 2011 as Literacy Consultant for Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey and currently works with Grades 7-12 teachers. Brenda
has a Bachelor of Education (Acadia) and a Masters in Literacy (MSV). Previous to being hired in 2011 by MK, Brenda worked for many years for the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board as a Learning Disability Consultant, classroom teacher (elementary, middle and high school levels), and Literacy Consultant. Brenda finished her career at the CBVRSB as the Coordinator of Elementary Programs for the Board.
After trying retirement, and recognizing early on that it wasn’t meant for her, Brenda taught for a year at Eskasoni School. She simultaneously
taught various courses for Memorial University, Mt. St. Vincent, St. Francis Xavier, and Cape Breton University in their Bachelor of Education and Masters in Education Programs. Brenda was also an instructor for the NSELC working with principals across the province on becoming instructional leaders in their schools.
Brenda spends her leisure time enjoying the company of her grandchildren, reading (no surprise there), playing online scrabble, travelling and enjoying all that nature has to offer at her home on Blackett’s Lake.
