There are student and teacher resources available through Treaty Education for teachers and classrooms. This year Treaty Ed is releasing four new documents to support teachers in including Treaty Ed into their classroom learning experiences.
The Land and Water Based Education and Treaty Ed Learning experiences are living documents. We hope to add to them over time once teachers have the opportunity to pilot them and form ideas to add to them.
The magazine “Peace and Friendship: Living with the Land” is connected to the Treaty Education framework question; Who are the Mi’kmaq Historically and Today? The magazine highlights some of our talented Mi’kmaw from Nova Scotia Mi’kma’ki.
"Treaty Education Resource for Nova Scotia Teachers” is an information resource for teachers to feed their own knowledge on topics that connect to all four of the Treaty Ed questions; Who are the the Mi’kmaw? What are Treaties and why are they important? What happened to the Treaty relationship? And what are we doing to reconcile that relationship?
If teachers would like to receive copies of any of the documents or would like to arrange a PD for teachers feel free to reach out to the Treaty Ed department at MK by reaching out to; Jacqueline Prosper, Treaty Education Lead or Basil Johnson, Treaty Ed Project Coordinator/Admin.
Treaty Ed will be providing copies for Student Services at MK to distribute as well.
Treaty Education continues to partner with the province in building more resources to connect with all grades and subjects and we are very excited about all future projects!
