On January 23rd & 24th we held #RibbonUpMK at Post-Secondary schools across the maritimes. This 2 day event provides an opportunity for students to create connections and community by making a ribbon skirt or shirt at the same time as students attending other universities or colleges.
This is the second time holding this event. It was a success the first time it was held in November of 2023 so we wanted to offer it again. Schools had some materials and the sewing machine that we provided during the inaugural event but we provided more materials to ensure they had enough for everyone. As part of the partnership, each school who participated covered the cost of the workshop facilitator and snacks again this year.
We absolutely love being able to bring students together and providing a space for them to connect with each other when they are away from their homes and communities. We are so proud of all of the students who put so much time and effort into creating such beautiful pieces!
