Nineteen youth from across Nova Scotia gathered in Tatamagouche from March 24th - 26th for the Red Road camp. The camp was coordinated by Kalolin Sylvester. under the guidance of Michael R. Denny, our Red Road Coordinator.
Language and cultural teachings were provided by Joe Googoo, Judy Bernard, Lawrence Wells and Diamond Wells. Participants learned how to make drums from Brian Knockwood and his team, and also had a sweat lodge and learned about intergenerational trauma and intergenerational healing from Stephanie Francis. Firekeepers for the weekend were Hunter Denny, Seth Pollett and Zacc Paul.
All of the youth who attended were very respectful and truly enjoyed the opportunity to take part in such an amazing weekend.
