Elementary Mathematics
On November 1st, EEMS and ESK immersion elementary teachers participated in a workshop called Weaving Mathematics Through Basket-Making. The workshop was facilitated by Kyla Bernard and Virick Francis. The teachers and some admin staff learned math concepts across different strands. Kyla made connections to the L'nuimk assessment and the story Kalolin learns about baskets. The winner of the door prize donated by Virick Francis was Sandra Linklater. She won mini pair of basket earrings.
Academic Services Retreat
The Academic Services team had a team building retreat this month. They had the opportunity to take part in a pipe ceremony, drum making, sessions on two-eyed seeing and Mi'kmaw ways of knowing and being. They also spent time discussing the work they have done over the past year and began planning their operational plans for the next year.
Technology Integration
On November 1st, educators from Eskasoni grade 3 and 4 along with some resource teachers attended a session with Kim MacKinnon, Technology Integration Consultant. They learned how to create assignments in Seesaw, how to use Stop Motion to inspire reluctant writers, and got to be the first to preview our new subscription to News-O-Matic.
