April 4, 2023
In early March, we held our annual planning symposium and we were so happy to be back at full capacity for the first time since March 2020! In 2021 and 2022, the event was restricted to smaller groups of invited guests due to gathering restrictions. This year, we were excited to invite community participants along with leadership to join us for the annual event.
Our theme this year was chosen because we will be hosting NAIG this summer in our territory and we want to encourage everyone to think about how we can empower people of all ages to become more active. The presentations revolved around the theme of "Building Healthy, Active Communities" and the table discussions focussed on how they can incorporate what they heard into their community plans. We had Jesse Benjamin come and show everyone how they can do strength training with a set of exercise bands, which each of our guests was provided with. We also provided everyone with hydration packs to encourage more activity like hiking or walking.
As always it was great to see all of the wonderful updates from each and every one of our communities. It was so wonderful to be able to socialize again and we took advantage of that by hosting a gathering with Karaoke, games, and snacks in the evening.
To finish the event on day 2, we asked our communities to talk about their immediate priorities for the coming year and let us know how they'd like us to support those priorities.
We are now working to find way to use the feedback in our upcoming strategic plans. We really appreciate everyone who was able to join us and help guide our planning.
