Our Early Childhood Team held a Daycare Director Meeting in Halifax introducing our new Maw-Meltamk L'nui-Kina'Masit project. Our objective is building on past achievements and developing processes that will ensure that young Mi'kmaq children will have sustainable, high-quality Indigenous Early Learning Child Care programs embedded in the Mi'kmaq Language & Culture.
We held a Virtual Professional Development on Understanding Autism: Autism and Trauma Informed with 63 ECE educators on Saturday February 12th. Ambrah MacNeil, MK Autism Teacher Specialist, facilitated the autism information session. UNSM Mental Health Wellness Team facilitated a Virtual workshop Supporting Early Childhood Educators with a Holistic Culture Approach on Saturday, February 26th. Our group created talking sticks and had many powerful discussions.
This is our Maw-Meltamk L'nui-kina'Masit Project Logo - the hieroglyphics in the logo mean children are taught in an indigenous way. Maw-Meltank L'nui-Kinamasit translates - Mi'kmaw Education for Early Learners.
