Glooscap Introduces new Education Officer

May 30, 2024

Hello! My name is Lauren Smith Jodrey, belonging to the Glooscap First Nation, and I’m thrilled to join the team as the new Education Officer. I am a recent new mom to my daughter, Suede and I have been enjoying every minute of it! I’m someone who values community, continuous learning, and fostering connections. Other than playing and coaching sports, I love spending time outdoors and exploring new places.

Professionally, I have a background in education with several years of experience working as a teacher. I also have a business degree in Marketing and am currently working on my Masters in Inclusive Education and Social Justice at Acadia University. My passion lies in creating inclusive and engaging learning environments where every student feels valued and inspired to reach their full potential. I’ve worked with diverse groups of students and have always strived to incorporate culturally relevant teaching practices to make learning meaningful and accessible for all.

In my new role as the Education Officer at Glooscap First Nation, I hope to enhance educational programs, support students and families, promote cultural awareness, build strong relationships, and encourage lifelong learning. I’m excited to embark on this journey and look forward to contributing to the growth and success of the community. Together, we can create an enriching and empowering educational experience for all our students.
