Christmas Fun at MK
During the month of December we held many different events at our MK office to help our staff get into the Christmas spirit. We had a door decorating contest, Fun Fridays which consisted of afternoon sessions doing crafts and socializing, and a whole Christmas theme week. During our Christmas Theme week, staff participated in Ugly sweater day, Grinch Day Red/Green Day and more. We all had so much fun!

On December 9th Kim MacKinnon and James Young hosted a dedicated group of educators from grades primary to 12. The group met in Membertou to participate in an in-person assistive technology and accessibility professional development day. The day consists of hands-on demonstrations, conversations, and an exploration of the top tools that are available for both assistive technology and accessibility. The tools from the demonstrations were given away as prizes so they could be used in the participant's classrooms. A special thanks to our guest presenter Adrian Graves who teaches in Annapolis Valley First Nation and shared his knowledge with our group.
In November, Kim MacKinnon held the Apple Everyone Can Create PLN. Teachers came together to learn new creative skills to practice with their students. They learned about photography, how to edit their photos and how they can use the "Everyone Can Create" teacher manuals to add interest and active learning to their Mi'kmaq and P-4 lessons. Everyone had a great time learning from Apple Distinguished Educator - Rob Smith, MK Technology Consultant Kim MacKinnon, and Apple Learning Specialist Tami Brewster.

Elementary Math
Kyla had a wonderful visit to Bear River to see the elementary teacher and connect with students. They enjoy hands-on learning tasks and she was able to see some cool creations as they build with manipulatives and explore Geometry.
She also wanted to share that there have been requests coming in for access to IXL learning. She did get 75 additional licences to make sure she has additional access just in case more teachers would liek to try it out. The program originally was specifically only Math access to hundreds of practice math skills for all grades, videos, and games but has recently added ELA access as well (English Language Arts).
