Teachers from across the province took part in a STEM workshop in Wagmatcook at the end of April. This Etuaptmumk Workshop focused on how modern technology can be used to help us more fully understand and contribute to solutions for many real issues facing our communities. The ocean-based learning workshop was the first in a series of workshops developed to help teachers deliver cross-curricular outcomes through a land & sea-based lens.
There were spaces available for 2 teachers from each community and many communities took advantage of the opportunity. The teachers who came out had lots of fun doing water-based experiments that can help them bring Mi’kmaw knowledge and western science together in their classrooms. Each participant took a Supernova Science kit back to their school so they can offer this learning to their students!
