In September 2022, we held our second annual Female Youth Leadership Camp in Kejimkujik. An invitation was sent out to each community to select 2 girls aged 14-16 who were interested in attending. All spaces for the camp were filled but as the weekend approached, several girls were unable to attend for various reasons. We had a small group this year but everyone who attended had tons of fun!
The girls set up camp their first night and set out their camp rules. They viewed a spectacular sunset and enjoyed some teachings by the fire with Michael R Denny. Their second day was filled with activities such as kayaking, crafts, a session with the NAIG outreach team, swimming, games, dancing, and a visit to the Petroglyphs. Day 3 included a talking circle and cleaning up camp before heading home.
The weather was perfect for the entire weekend and the girls made some long lasting friendships. We can't wait to do it again next year!
