During the final weekend of February, a gathering was held in Debert for educators and Red Road alumni, along with Red Road Elders, Lottie Johnson and Lulan Wells. The second gathering for this Master Cultural Apprentice group was based on the theme of Mid-Winter Feasting.
Over the course of the weekend, the participants took part in cultural ceremonies and workshops on drum making and jikmaqn making. The group had the opportunity to do some meditation and learned about the Seven Sacred Teachings. They also did some singing, drumming and dancing. The weekend was filled with laughter, good food and learning.
One final gathering for this group is planned before the end of March. The funding for this project came from EPP program funding. There are hopes that it will be identified as best practice and will continue to be funded into the future.
