This year's Project, Building with a Mi'kmaw Perspective Using Land Based Education with the Ke'tunanum Trail (I Want To Know), is intended to continue and further develop land based learning by nourishing the learning spirit of our students, their parents, elders and the community as a whole for them to connect their cultural identity with the land and at the same time develop their fluency in using the Mi'kmaw language.
The development of this trail, which will be connected with the Survivor's Garden project, will fferent cultural activites being demonstrated in Mi'kmaoutline the cultural activities that have been presented at each site and having QR codes on thesignage so students as a class or an individual wanting to learn more about their culture and develop their lang can use their cell phones or school i-pads as an ongoing learning activities throughout the year to focus on their interest in learning more about a particular topic.
The cultural activities that each of the six pods will have along the trail will focus on traditional arts and crafts, drumming and dance, processing food and its preparation, traditional medicine and learning from Mother Earthknowledge of survival techniques and understanding of what signs she shows us predicting the weather. Through the Ke'tunanum Trail (I Want To Know), the community's wi-fi broadband will provide our young and old learner's spirits to to connect with their cultural identity and language.
