Students and staff went to Five Islands and Partridge Island on October 5th. It was a beautiful day and the tides were definitely in our favour, so it turned out to be a fantastic beach day! Trevor Gould joined us and shared his knowledge and some stories about the area.

October 9th-13th is Fire Prevention Week! On October 10th, we had a visit from the Pomquet Fire Department. Students had the opportunity to explore the fire truck while learning about fire safety.

Students visited Bauer Theatre on October 6th to watch "Th'owxiya: The Hungry Feast Dish"."Th'owxiya: The Hungry Feast Dish" is a mesmerizing theatrical performance that not only offered a compelling story, but also provided an opportunity for students to explore Indigenous culture, folklore, and the power of storytelling. It's an educational journey that combined entertainment with important lessons about heritage and tradition.

Paqtnkek Education Centre hosted a Thanksgiving Feast for students and their families on October 6th. We had a delicious turkey dinner made by our school chef and had a great turnout!

Starting on Thursday, October 12th, students will be going to STFX every Thursday for six weeks for a Mini-U program.Students will participate in activities about X-Oceans, Animal Biology, Business, Theatre, Climate Change, and Human Kinetics. They will also have lunch at the university with Nutrition students and learn all about healthy living and eating.After lunch, students will be learning about and playing lacrosse with the men's lacrosse team and then will have tutoring sessions at the Coady Institute.

Students had a fantastic afternoon helping Paqtnkek resident Gail Marshall with her garden. They had so much fun harvesting vegetables and planting trees. PEC students are going to be very well-rounded in sustainability practices such as growing their own food and living off of what the land can provide.

Students and staff went on a field trip to Riverbreeze Farm on October 24th! They had a blast on the wagon ride, playing on the farm, and meeting all of the animals!
