Mi’kmaw Language Curricula Projects

Mi’kmaw Language Curricula Projects continue to receive high priority. On April 19th funding partners for the Centre of Excellence including Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey, INAC, HRDC, and the NS Department of Education met. A framework for evaluation was foremost on the agenda. The Centre showcased the books, video tapes, and teaching curricula that have already been developed.

Community In-Service Gathering in Waycobah

Staff from Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey recently highlighted the organization’s activities at an educational in-service meeting of the Waycobah schools. There was a good exchange of information, with the staff receiving insight into school needs and school staff understanding MK’s role and mandate. Any member community wanting such an in-service will be treated as a priority.

Book Launch - Reclaiming Indigenous Voice and Vision

Dr. Marie Battiste of Chapel Island and Eskasoni will launch her new book, “Reclaiming Indigenous Voice and Vision” May 15th, 2:00 p.m. at the University College of Cape Breton.
